Hello everybody,
today we dive into an island that in my opinion is one of the most beautiful here in the Seychelles, La Digue.
This island can be reached by sea with the CATROSE boat from Praslin.

Excellent choice for those who want to switch off and stay in the most uncontaminated nature. However, I recommend that you visit at least the 3 main islands MAHE – PRASLIN and LA DIGUE when you come on vacation so that you can discover them all.
The peculiarity of this island is to go around it all by bicycle, so equip yourself with good will if you are not a great sportsman and pedaling you can go around the island far and wide. You can rent bicycles at the port or in the structure where you will stay at a cost of about 100 Rupees per day.
The granite island of La Digue has a size of 10 km and is the fourth largest island of the Seychelles 40 km away from Mahè but the third island in terms of population, about 2000 inhabitants.
Here we find many beaches including the famous and most photographed in the world ANSE SOURCE D’ARGENT with its gigantic wavy granite boulders scratched by the wind. The most used beach to contract civil MARRIAGE (already because if you didn’t know it here in the Seychelles you can get married in a totally legal way)
To go to this beach you have to cross L’UNION ESTATE (for a fee of € 8 per person) where you can find:
- vanilla plantations;
- the giant tortoises;
- the copra factory (the coconut pulp from which the oil is extracted) very characteristic because there is the ox that, turning around the mill, grinds the coconut;
- the shipyard;
- the colonial houses where they had also shot the love movie of the 70s “Goodbye Emmanuelle”
- the riding center;
- the historic cemetery of the first settlers (there is also the tombstone of an Underwood ancestor of mine);
- La maison de l’histoire an art gallery where you can find all the paintings and sculptures of Creole artisans.
Then we find the beaches of:
- Anse patates
- Anse Gaulettes
- Anse Banane
- Anse Fourmis
- Petit Anse
- Anse coco
- Grand Anse
- Anse Marron
Most of these beaches can be reached by bicycle except for some that you can get there by walking.
Fantastic landscapes will be in front of your eyes as you pedal and the air touches your face …
NOT TO BE MISSED
When you are in La Digue do not miss a nice walk to Petite Anse or Anse Cocos, you can venture alone or with a guide inside the unspoiled nature among the rocks. you will really be amazed.
WHERE TO EAT IN LA DIGUE
On the island you will find restaurants and in any case you can consume in the hotels you prefer. At lunch, as in the other islands, if you don’t want to sit down, you can always take a take away and have a nice picnic on the beach.
If you want to take a taxi then you just have to stop an ox, yes that’s right, the ox cart or the ox that pulls the cart where you will be seated. I think you do it first by bike though.
