Hello my beloved Seychelleslovers,
today I want to give you two pieces of information to remove all doubts about how to pay here in the Seychelles.
If you are about to leave for your vacation try to understand what your budget is for the duration of your stay.
The local currency is the Rupee, 1 € = 15 Rupees
Banks in Italy do not change banknotes so if you want to exchange Rupees you will have to do it once you arrive at your destination.
Here in the Seychelles, Euros, Dollars and Rupees are accepted. But watch out … If you have to buy in a small shop, I call them “Indian Shop” pay only in Rupees or card
Where to change chas
You can change the banknotes arrived at the airport in the various Exchanges, at the port of Mahe and Praslin or in the various offices that you find on the islands. If, on the other hand, you are passing through and find some open banks, you can do it here too.
If you are staying in a hotel or resort, the facilities will almost certainly give this type of service.
The smaller island of La Digue has few exchange offices and few banks.
Withdrawing cash with an ATM
Very simple, especially if you do not want to travel with cash, is to withdraw with an ATM card at the ATMs of the various banks that we find on the islands such as Barclays Bank, Nouvobanq, MCB Bank, Baroda Bank etc.
Before leaving, remember to contact your bank to verify that your card is enabled for withdrawal abroad and perhaps increase the limit of use of the card
Pay with credit card
Here in the Seychelles you can pay by credit card in restaurants and supermarkets.
How much cash to change
It depends on whether you have entered half board or not. In this case, what you have to pay during your vacation is very little.
You will need cash for shopping if you are staying in the apartment, for lunches around restaurants or takeaways, to buy cool drinks and snacks in the “Indian Shops” (little shops that you can find everywhere on the road on any island) and for souvenirs. So don’t change a lot but a little at a time so as not to have any cash left over.
How to pay for the excursions
If you plan to organize excursions, also in this case you can pay both in Euros and in Rupees, therefore, you are spoiled for choice
How to pay for car rental
If you have rented a car you can pay the total in cash or by credit card, which is essential, since the renter will use the credit card as a guarantee during your rental in case of accidents. If you don’t want to give your credit card as a guarantee, ask me for advice.
How to pay for bicycle rental in La Digue
Bike rental on the island of La Dgue costs 100 Rupees per day and in this case you can pay in cash.
How to pay for baggage wrapping
When your holidays are over, I remind you that at Mahè airport there is a stand for wrapping your luggage so as to be safe and not to ruin your luggage at a cost of € 7 per bag with SEYWRAP.
