Beaches not to be missed in Mahè

Tempo di lettura 4 minuti

Today, to make you dream a little and to warm up from this cool winter, I will tell you about the beaches on Mahè.

I start by telling you that if you stay in Mahè for less than 3/4 days in order to see all these fabulous beaches you absolutely must rent a car to go around the island stopping here and there to admire these splendid beaches and take some beautiful photographs….

  • Anse Major fantastic beach in the north of the island which can be reached with a 40 minute walk
  • Beau Vallon beach in the north of the island of 3 kilometers with very white sand. Numerous hotels and restaurants overlook this beach. For this reason, this location is recommended for those who want to dine out often. Don’t think it’s Ibiza, we are still in the Seychelles, so when I tell you that there is more movement, I remind you that we are still inside the so-called Seychelles jungle.

What do you absolutely have to do here? Aperitif at the Beach Shak where you will witness the most beautiful sunset of Mahè and dinner at the Perle Noir restaurant, family run where the cooks are Italian. I assure you you will lick one’s chops.

  • Carana and North East Point fabulous and uncrowded beaches where only you and the breaking of the waves are the protagonists. Carana is a bit hidden and you don’t see it immediately but you have to take a small road that takes you directly to the beach, through the hotel the “CARANA BEACH HOTEL” opened in April 2016. North east-point, on the other hand, is more visible because it runs alongside the road. Only some points are suitable for swimming but always only when the sea is calm. Also used by surfers.
  • Sunset Beach is one of my favorites because it’s small and intimate. Here was the SUNSET BEACH HOTEL which is closed today (but honestly I don’t understand why since it was beautiful) Here you can relax in this unique atmosphere between the granite boulders and the ocean that has no end … Many times I happen to meet the rastafarian man, so nicknamed by me, who with his athletic physique and his energy trains on the beach. Why not, maybe some milf who is traveling all alone needs some company.
  • Aux au pins after the airport we head towards the south of the island, we find on the right one of the two golf courses of the Seychelles, which has nothing to compare to that of the Lemuria hotel. but great for those who want to train a bit or even start a golf career. Immediately afterwards on the left is this beach with filaos trees, long and shady.
  • Anse Royale this reef protected beach is great for swimming and for taking the kids. If you like snorkelling you can even go to the islet of Souris. Frequented by fishermen, you can sometimes smell the fish. On this beach you will find the restaurant Cafè Kreole and Pied d’ans l’eau.

Before this long white sand beach you will find Faryland another small and intimate beach with its granite boulders. I recommend getting there early in the morning or late afternoon (by late afternoon I mean 4-5pm since it gets dark by 6.15pm)

  • Anse Parnel how I love this quiet and intimate beach… a spectacular view makes you daydream.
  • Anse Intendance probably one of the largest beaches of Mahè, it attracts people with its giant and rough waves, you will experience moments where you will be in contact with nature (be careful when swimming because the sea is really rough
  • Anse Takamaka the trees typical of the “takamaka” granite islands naturally shelter the beach, hence the name. The sea between May and September is rough so if you have to explore the seabed, be careful.
  • Anse Soleil one of my favorites located in Baie Lazare. In the richest of vegetations, arriving on this beach that opens onto rain basins fills you with emotion… Soft and floury white sand, sea colored in various blues, what can I say… crazy; Here you can have lunch at the “Cafè Soleil Chez Julien” here you can taste the best octopus curry on the island and a delicate but filling Fish & Chips
  • Anse la Mouche surrounded by palm trees on this beach you will find shallow and calm water, excellent for some snorkelling
  • Barbarons it’s a beach not much visited but fantastic to see it at least once in a lifetime.
  • Port Launay another favorite beach of mine and the only marine park accessible by sea or land. Great for your relaxation and to use mask and snorkel. They say it is famous for sightings of lazily circling whale sharks, I honestly have never seen it! I have always taken my children here for a swim when my mother lived on this side of the island and then had lunch at the Del Place restaurant at Port Glaud.

Watch out that once you get here you can’t go any further because the road ends.

There are many other beaches

The advice I want to give you is to rent a car for the duration of your stay here on Mahè so you can visit the length and breadth of the island but above all stop wherever you want!

And now I greet you with a very Creole SONG so you can see a video shot on these beautiful islands!!
